Topic: Lemurian Crystals

Thank you to everyone who attended our very first crystal class.
With every crystal class, we are going to have a corresponding blog post.  These posts will cover the material from the class as well as provide a platform for the conversation to continue, questions to be asked, and a place for you to submit feedback about the classes. It also provides a permanent place of reference for the material which we felt was important given the format of the LIVE feature on Instagram.  We are only able to keep the classes up for replay for 24 hours- and in between that and the time zone difference for many people interested in the classes, we figured blog posts would be a good way to follow up.  Eventually in the future we may explore recording the videos and posting them (YouTube was suggested quite a few times) but we want to ensure if we do make a change that it feels right.

During our first class, we covered the topic of Lemurian Crystals.
We covered the metaphysical, the variations, the locales, the lore behind Lemurian Crystals and what helps you to identify a lemurian crystal.

Locale 

Where do Lemurian Crystals come from?

Lemurian crystals were originally discovered loose in sand and not attached to any matrix in Brazil.
Since then, Lemurians have been found in Colombia, Russia, some in Tibet & even right here in the United States in Arkansas.
Brazilian Lemurians are often thought of as the "OG"s of the Lemurian Crystal world- but there's nothing to say that one is preferable over the other if you are looking to add a Lemurian to your collection.  As with many other crystals and minerals- certain formations/variations/inclusions/and locales will be sought after by collectors and vary in market value based on their availability/desirability.  But if you're not looking to add to your collection in that regard, I'm always of the opinion of you should go with whatever you're drawn to.  For me personally- I tend to be drawn to Brazilian Lemurians.  I have Brazilian, Arkansas and one Colombian in my personal collection.

Lore 

The Land of Lemuria

Lemurian Crystals received their name from the ancient civilization of Lemuria.  Similar to the lore of Atlantis, the story goes that Lemuria was a continent in the Pacific Ocean and home to a progressive society.  The lore goes that the continent sank, and prior to this the inhabitants of Lemuria programmed quartz crystals with ancient knowledge and buried them in the Earth.  It was their intention that the crystals would "come forth" (or be found) when the time was right for humanity to need and utilize their knowledge.
Their society was a society centered around the spiritual progression of all inhabitants of the Earth (sometimes referred to as "ascension" by the New Age community) as well as a central theme of compassion for all.
It is believed that once the continent sank, the remaining Lemurians retreated to Mt. Shasta in California- where they have remained underground since.
The Lemurian Crystals are said to bring messages of responsibility and allegiance to our planet, fellow human beings and all forms of life who call Earth home.

Structure

How do I identify a Lemurian?

Lemurians are noted for having distinct ladder formations (horizontal striations) on their sides.  Each side should alternate- one being more well defined than the following side.  So for the sake of understanding what I mean by this- imagine a four sided object: Side 1 would be well defined, Side 2 would be less defined but still exhibit ladder formations, Side 3 would be well defined and Side 4 would be less defined.

Energy 

What are the metaphysical properties of Lemurian Crystals?

Metaphysically, it is said that by running your finger along the ladder formations, you are "downloading" the ancient wisdom and knowledge left by the Lemurians.
Lemurian Crystals are excellent for chakra balancing and cleansing.  They are a favorite of lightworkers (those who perform spiritual healing work such as Reiki, Crystal Healing, etc.) due to their ancient connections to a society focused on bringing about a positive vibrational shift for humanity. They can even aid in those who work in the realm of past-life regression as they are said to bring ancient knowledge to the present and insight to lessons learned in prior lifetimes.  They connect your physical body to your "higher self."

Variations

Why do I see so many different Lemurian Crystals with different names?

Being quartz crystals- they can come with various inclusions causing different colors and appearances. Listed below are some different variations you might come across and their corresponding metaphysical properties. Lemurians will all inhabit the overall metaphysical properties just mentioned.  The different variations/their inclusions give additional energetic properties

Clear Quartz Lemurian- quartz is a "master healer" and magnifies other crystals it is placed around and can be "programmed" with your specific intentions.

Tangerine Lemurians- Helps in matters of karmic imbalances and creativity.  Associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra. (orange color caused by Iron Oxide)

Pink/"Strawberry" Lemurians- Heart centered, work with your heart chakra and matters of love/relationships. (presence of Hematite causing pink/red color)

"Shadow Healer" (Smoky Quartz) Lemurians- Intensified healing in addition to grounding and protective

"Golden Healer" Lemurian- Excellent for use in any energetic healing work (Presence of Iron within crystalline structure)

"Dreamsicle" Lemurians- Excellent for dream work. (external coating of crystallized sand producing an interesting texture)

Lithium Lemurians- Calming, Reduces anxiety and stress. (inclusion of Lithium)

Citrine Lemurians- Helps to bring about abundance, both monetarily as well as in regards to your own special gifts (ex. artistic talent)

We've also come across other included Lemurians, such as ones with Goethite, Chlorite, and limonite just to name a few.  Being quartz, any mineral inclusions that would occur in silicates indigenous to the surrounding area would be a potential inclusion.

Space 

Where do I put my Lemurian Crystal/What kind should I get?

We also talked about some places to incorporate Lemurian Crystals in to your life and home.
Depending on your intention for what you wish to use the crystal may determine what form you're looking for.
Small Lemurian Crystal Point- We've seen Lemurians as small as half an inch.  If you're someone who enjoys having crystals on your person every day- this would be an excellent size for a "pocket crystal" or to use in making crystal jewelry.
Towers/Cut Base Lemurins- If you're looking to have a Lemurian in a common living space like your living room or in an environment such as an office, a cut base lemurian or a tower may be a good choice.  Make sure if you purchase a fully polished Lemurian tower, that you are getting it from a reputable source.  Once the ladder formations (horizontal striations) are polished away there is almost no way of indicating whether it is a Lemurian or not.  So you want to be sure if you're looking for a fully polished Lemurian tower that you are getting it from someone who deals heavily in Lemurians, can give you information about the locale that it came from and perhaps most importantly that you trust that they are selling you a genuine polished Lemurian.  Towers also come in semi-polished forms (these are a little easier to identify as being Lemurian).  Cut bases are natural unpolished Lemurians that have had their base sanded down to be level and flat so that it can be self standing like a tower. Energy is emitted from Quartz points out of their terminations (top most part of the crystal that comes to a point) and will radiate to the surrounding environment.  If you're looking for Lemurian energy in a larger space- the rule of thumb is the larger the tower/cut base the more energy it will emit to the surrounding area.
Medium/Larger Lemurian Quartz Points- These are excellent for keeping in your bedroom next to your bed if you are utilizing them for dreamwork.  They also make excellent pieces to keep handy where you tend to meditate or sit and hold your crystals. Palm sized and larger crystals tend to be the pieces that you would want to use in any sort of crystal healing or other New Age healing methods where crystals can be incorporated.

As always though (and I can't stress this enough) go with what feels right!
The statements above on how to incorporate crystals in to your life and space are merely suggestions/tools to getting started.  Your crystals are always going to work best for you energetically when you're placing them in meaningful ways guided by your instincts.
